Lakes and Locks 2010 Jul

Another long weekend. Peter and I went east from Toronto after checking the Ontario roads for bikes website. With quite a few roads as goals, we wandered through the Rideau Lakes region for three days finding some really good and unexpected roads and visited many of the locks on the Rideau Canal. http://www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/on/rideau/natcul/natcul2.aspx

Nice entrance into town coming downhill with view of the lake. Rideau Lakes signs throughout the whole area - the whole township in fact!!

We took a sideroad to get to Chaffeys Lock which turned out to be a nice ?? k twisty road. I hadn't seen any of these locks before. Most are still hand operated…
